The network has expanded by welcoming some of the large enterprise Industrial Members of TWI, including Hilti, Kobelco (Welding, Netherlands) and Marshall (of Cambridge), as Innovation Accelerators.
In addition to these developments, the AIP also remains of significant interest to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and start-up companies (micro SMEs), such as spin outs from academic work.
This growing category highlights the importance of early phase collaboration in R&D and product development, leading to a more mature and established market position for companies.
There are several initiatives across the UK and European platforms in place almost on a regular basis for SMEs to target and partner with universities through dedicated Innovation Centres (ICs), TWI, and enter into relationship-building exercises with companies that will be considered as their target audience and end user(s). This attractive composition allows for confident progress and growth.
The next annual meeting of the TWI Innovation Network will be held on the 4th July 2018 at TWI HQ, Cambridge, with an all-day programme that will include speakers and an exhibition.
