Extending safe life - technologies and benefits

Technical Groups 09 October 2019

Structural Integrity Technical Group and FESI Joint Event:
Extending structural safe life - technologies and benefits

Many engineering structures, such as offshore installations, nuclear and fossil power generating facilities, and other plants and facilities, are nearing the end of their originally expected life. This does not necessarily mean they have to be withdrawn from service, however, and there are substantial economic and other advantages to be gained from continued safe operation.

Management of life extension requires advanced, continuing assessment of safety critical elements to ensure they remain fit for purpose and safe to operate for longer than their original life.

The seminar will address current methodologies for life assessment and will include case studies from both the offshore and power generating sectors.
