Wed, 15 January, 2020

Non-Metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) research sponsors Saudi Aramco and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) joined fellow co-founding NIC partner TWI, and leading representatives from industry and academia, for the NIC’s Second Technical Advisory Board (TAB) meeting, held on 9 December 2019 at the offices of Aramco Overseas Company (AOC) in London.

The aim of the annual meetings is to pool experiences and knowledge in order to develop a fully comprehensive understanding of the technical, marketing and industrial trends related to the use of non-metallic solutions in the oil and gas industry, together with a robust view of the wider global picture.  In addition, the NIC aims to enhance collaboration between all stakeholders to fast track new technologies through concept to market delivery.

This year’s meeting, attended by non-metallic pipe manufacturers, resin suppliers, plant operators and university experts, focused on the key subject areas of NIC roadmap, R&D strategy and 5 year programme, technical and market challenges, project portfolio and current trends.

Mihalis Kazilas, NIC Programme Director chaired the meeting and a series of questions were put to the panel of representatives resulting in in-depth discussions and debate.

Mihalis said “The TAB is an essential meeting for the NIC in order to foster new collaboration, look at priorities for research projects and identify future challenges for industry so that threats can be mitigated.  It also provides a forum for sharing insights and discussing ideas with like-minded companies and organisations” he added.
